As you may know, hospitals and insulin pump manufacturers advise that the electromagnetic radiation used by x-ray screening for carry-on or checked luggage and full-body airport scanners may interfere with the motors of insulin pumps resulting in a potential impact on insulin delivery.
Here are the current statements from the major pump manufacturers Medtronic and Roche:

Passengers should not be asked to remove a medical device, such as an insulin pump, for security screening. In addition, regulations allow for insulin pumps to be screened by hand search, supported by Trace Detection . We advise that insulin pump users always carry medical confirmation from their practitioner so that screening may be undertaken accordingly.
Finally, and most importantly, I have today spoken to the Director of Aviation Security at the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and we are both disappointed that the above is still not being adhered to at numerous airports and we are keen to eradicate the issues insulin pump users face at airport security.
For us to take further action, please share your poor experiences with us including the airport name, date, approximate time, flight number and a description of what happened.
Please email details to me at rachel@ufofreight.com (and share this message!)
