Advocate for Improved Social Integration for the Disabled in Adelaide

The issue

I used to work at a pharmacy in Adelaide, South Australia. Day after day, I witnessed firsthand the hardships and struggles people with disabilities have to navigate in their day-to-day activities. Far too often, these individuals are excluded from social interactions and left on the sidelines. For these reasons, I am driven to increase awareness and advocacy for the disabled in our community.

It is a heartbreaking fact that people with disabilities are three times more likely to avoid social interactions due to fear of discrimination (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2016). This exclusion does not only harm individuals but also weakens the fabric of our society as a whole. We are failing in providing an inclusive environment that recognises the value and potential of every individual, regardless of their physical or mental conditions.

Adelaide is no exception to this issue and we must occur as change agents within our community. This petition aims to prompt local authorities in Adelaide to improve accessibility and inclusivity measures, and fight against discrimination faced by disabled individuals in social settings. By speaking out and making our voices heard, we can make Adelaide a city that encourages participation and diversity, where no one is excluded due to disability.

Please sign this petition today, help us raise awareness, and contribute to creating a community that celebrates differences, cherishes diversity and inclusivity. Together, we can bring about a change that truly makes a difference.
