Advocate for Accessible Skincare Diagnosis and Medical Care for the Less Privileged

The Issue

I battle with psoriasis from an early age, personalized the struggles that come with skin disorders and the differences that proper diagnosis can make. My condition often left me feeling alienated from my peers due to visible inflammation on my fingers and lips. While navigating this challenging terrain, looking at those in poverty, making access to a dermatologist's treatment an elusive dream. My experiences motivated me to study Dermatology to serve children and the less privileged. I believe proper diagnoses and skin care should not be a right exclusive to the economically advantaged. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that hundreds of millions of children worldwide suffer from skin diseases. Most of these are easily preventable and curable but are left unattended due in part to ignorance and a lack of resources. We aim to bridge this gap. We propose more accessible skin health, education, diagnoses and medical care for less privileged children, including beggars and hawkers. We seek to curb the spread of easily avoidable skin diseases by ensuring that even minor symptoms, such as rashes, do not go unchecked. We desire a world where no child has to suffer from skin conditions due to ignorance or a lack of resources, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Help us bring this vision to life. This is more than just about skin; it's about dignity, health, and equality. Support us in advocating for proper skin care for every child. Please sign this petition today.
