We disagree with the proposed curriculum changes. We believe that the erasure of trauma caused by the Canadian residential school system and of history is harmful. The Alberta UCP government is trying to erase historical trauma inflicted upon Indigenous people by removing it from the curriculum. Also, the rote memorization prioritized by these changes does not aid a child’s development as a learner.
