The Issue

I am reaching out to highlight a profound and deeply troubling issue that affects many dedicated staff members at our local nursing home. The situation involves persistent mistreatment and unfair practices by upper management, specifically by a direct supervisor who is creating a hostile and toxic work environment.

Staff are operating in fear, intimidated and degraded regularly through the use of profanity and unprofessional behavior from their direct supervisor. This environment of fear leads to a lack of communication, as the staff are terrified of retaliation. With the threat of being fired unjustly, many staff members are forced to keep their heads down, afraid to voice their concerns or opinions.

This supervisor disregards fundamental professional practices, demonstrating favoritism in choosing which employees receive their mandated annual reviews, thereby undermining staff morale and the spirit of fair and equitable treatment. Annual reviews are not just a procedural formality; they are crucial for the professional development and recognition of hard-working staff. This erratic and unjust practice is rapidly depleting the staff's motivation and morale, contributing to a revolving door of employees who are bullied out rather than choosing to leave.

The staff's treatment has direct implications on the quality of care provided to the residents of the home. Miserable and fearful employees cannot provide the compassionate and attentive care that our residents so rightly deserve. This hostile work environment erodes patient care standards and puts the well-being of vulnerable residents at risk.

This petition urges appropriate authorities and stakeholders in the healthcare field to intervene immediately. We implore management to uphold an environment of respect and fairness, conducting a thorough investigation into the allegations of mistreatment and implementing measures to ensure no staff member works in fear of retaliation.

We ask for an anonymous reporting system to be established where employees can safely share concerns about management without fear of repercussion. Furthermore, it is imperative that there is an overhaul in management strategies and training programs to foster a culture of inclusiveness and mutual respect.

It is critical for the health of not only the staff but also the residents who trust our care home for their quality of life, that these issues are addressed comprehensively and with urgency. The staff, the residents, and the community deserve better. Please sign this petition to protect our community's caregivers and ensure they work in a safe and respectful environment.
