Persian is a beautiful, poetic, and historically rich language spoken by over 100 million people in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and among diaspora communities across the globe. It is one of the oldest living languages, with deep cultural, literary, and philosophical traditions. Yet, surprisingly, it is still not offered on Duolingo—a platform that claims to celebrate language diversity and make language learning accessible to everyone.

We, the signers of this petition, ask Duolingo to include Persian (Farsi) in its course offerings. Persian is not a dying or obscure language—it is widely spoken, taught in universities around the world, and an important medium of expression in classical and modern literature. Additionally, we request the consideration of a course for Old Persian, the ancient language of the Achaemenid Empire, written in cuneiform script, which would not only serve academic and historical interests but also diversify Duolingo’s linguistic archive.

This is more than just adding another course. It's about giving voice to a vibrant language and culture that deserves representation on global platforms. Persian learners—whether heritage speakers, cultural enthusiasts, or academic researchers—have been waiting for too long.
