Accountability and Reform: Restructuring the Caroline Springs Blue Devils Basketball Club

Accountability and Reform: Restructuring the Caroline Springs Blue Devils Basketball Club
The issue
The Petition Goal:
We, the members, parents, and supporters of the Caroline Springs Blue Devils, are calling for an immediate leadership restructure and a commitment to financial transparency to save our club’s future.
The Issues:
The Blue Devils should be a pillar of our community, but it is currently being hindered by systemic mismanagement. We are raising our voices regarding:
- Zero Member Engagement: There are no General Meetings or forums for parents and members to voice concerns or contribute to the club’s direction.
- Lack of Financial Transparency: There have been no public financial audits or fee breakdowns. Members deserve to know where their money is going.
- Loss of Home Court (Caroline Springs Leisure Centre): The club has failed to secure and maintain its presence at our local Leisure Centre. As a result, our "Caroline Springs" teams are being displaced, forcing families to travel elsewhere and stripping the club of its local identity and community hub.
- Exorbitant Costs: Our fees are currently up to twice as much as neighboring clubs, pricing out local families and making basketball a luxury rather than a community sport.
- Poor Player Experience: The "heart" of the game is missing. There are no end-of-season events, community gatherings, or recognition for players (trophies, medals, or photos).
- Flawed Team Selection: The tryout process is uninformed and inconsistent, leading to frustration and a lack of clear development paths for our athletes.
Our Demands:
- Leadership Restructure: We call for the club to be led by a committee that has the time, capacity, and passion to manage its growth effectively.
- Home Court Strategy: An immediate, transparent plan to regain and prioritize court time at the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre for our local players.
- Full Financial Audit: An immediate release of financial statements to all paying members to justify current fee structures.
- An Open Forum: An Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held within 30 days to address member grievances.
Community Focus: A return to fair pricing and a commitment to player-centric events and recognition.
