Petitioning Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department of Hong Kong Access to Information Officer, Administration Division and 7 others

Request for comprehensive list of life and mortality rate of the cetacean collection at Ocean Park for the last decade.

I would like to apply for information via the AFCD and wish to invite any others interested in this info to sign this petition. We can then get a better picture of how many other likeminded people share this concern.

There has been a  global shift in consciousness, and there are many of us who disagree with Ocean Park's confinement and breeding programme of cetaceans.

More importantly, it has come to our attention that there is limited access to information on the animal life and death mortality rates and more importantly, Ocean Park's past and present dolphin population.

As a Hong Kong resident I feel that we should have the right to access this information, given Ocean Park are responsible for hundreds of animals in their 'collection.' A generalized sentence or 2 is far from adequate in their annual report and as they pride themselves as the rightful owners of these creatures, the least they can do is release relevent details to us as a community.

A community who has the freedom to make informed decisions with a fully, comprehensive list of data providing all information on each and every cetacean at Ocean Park, with an emphasis on the last 10 years, of which there is very limited information.

A  fully comprehensive marine mammal inventory report from Ocean Park in HK, specifically covering dolphins from the last 15 years would be most welcomed; One list with Names, parentage, from where, Artificial breeding, normal reproduction. Deaths, reason for deaths, date of deaths. All dates of still born baby dolphins, or babies born and only survive  only a short period of time.
