Please do not promote Theme Parks that hold cetaceans captive.
A growing majority of us would be happy to see the tail end of beluga and dolphin shows. Films like ‘The Cove’ and ‘Blackfish’ highlight the atrocities that occur when dolphinariums place a demand on live dolphins. As well as being cruel beyond words, and regardless of which accreditation these place have, there is no place for killer whales, dolphins and belugas in captivity but for rescue and rehabilitation. Groupon, please reconsider your stance on promoting places like these and help promote true respect for these cetaceans. There are far more friendly ways to learn about these creatures than to keep them confined, and even more important we enforce more ethically sound corporate decisions for our community. http://getaways.groupon.hk/en/deals/720077740
Please STOP the annual Taiji slaughter and capture of cetaceans.
This petition will be resubmitted to the Consul General of Japan in Hong Kong, in December of 2015. We have requested a meeting, and are finalising plans for the demo in December.During these hunts, small whales and dolphins are rounded up into shallow bays and slaughtered with knives and hand-held harpoons. The drive fishery in Japan continues due to the demand for the meat however the demand for the animals to supply marine parks far outweighs the demand for consumption. Dolphin meat is highly toxic and consumption should be avoided by all. This killing must be stopped. We need to let the Japanese Minister know that we cannot and will not tolerate the slaughter or capture of these sentient beings any longer. There is no justice, justification for such brutality. It is highly distressing to see the methods and abuse which can be observed , furthermore, it is barbaric murderous insanity, which is neither endearing, educational or even ethically correct. The message is positive: Japan, let the dolphins live and be free!
What are you waiting for Ocean Park?, HK: Phase Out and Close Down your Dolphin Exhibit:
Trapped marine mammals are sad caricatures of the real thing. Please do not subject more creatures to pain and suffering for the sole purpose of public amusement. We request a fully comprehensive list of information pertaining to the captive dolphins covering the last decade be made available for the public viewing.(i.e. DOB, Causes of death, dates, parentage, wild- caught, captive bred) (3 years and still waiting) Our community members, young and old, are interested in working out a solution for this age old dolphin exhibit that lacks any substantial educational value and sits uncomfortably with more and more ticket payers. We would like to see birth control implemented and captive breeding of cetaceans phased out. No dolphin deserves imprisonment, the public cannot unsee what has become apparent(abuse and suffering). Dolphins belong in the ocean, not in minuscule concrete holes. This is indeed common sense and as we are in 2015, it's time to step up to the plate and accept responsibility for the needless pain, suffering and deaths of innocent creatures. We feel that perhaps more effort, focus and attention should be applied to our local marine mammal mortality issue, with an emphasis rescue, rehabilitation and re-introduction. As a first class city, we feel Ocean Park, HK should consider re-evaluating their ethical integrity and accountability in regards to the confinement of dolphins for entertainment purposes and breeding.
Stop the brutal slaughter and capture of dolphins and whales in Taiiji.
Whilst this petition says it was a victory, I'm afraid to say we're not quite yet there. I have updated a newer petition. All signatures received will be counted from both petitions. https://www.change.org/p/consul-general-of-japan-in-hong-kong-please-stop-the-annual-taiji-slaughter-and-capture-of-cetaceans
