Abolish male primogeniture (it's sex discrimination) -Let girls inherit family titles too!

The Issue

Sex discrimination is illegal. And yet, in 2025....if you are the daughter of a peer or baronet, you may not inherit your own family title - simply because you were born female. You are, quite bluntly, regarded as "second best" to your male counterparts.

Incredibly, our government has continued to sanction the 900-year-old law of male primogeniture under its own roof: 92 seats in the House of Lords are effectively ring-fenced for men only (the hereditary peers). In any other sphere of society or business, this would be criminal

The vast majority of titles confer neither wealth nor privilege, but are intrinsically linked to a family's history. It’s natural to want to pass them on to future generations.

If family property, or businesses could only be passed to sons, imagine the public outcry!

Please sign the petition to banish this archaic and unfair law to the history books where it belongs. You may opt not to display your name.

Thank you for your support - it's deeply appreciated!
