Leeds City Council have announced the introduction of car parking fees for their largest parks with the best facilities. 

This petition aims to highlight to Leeds City Council the massively negative impact this can, and most certainly will, have on Leeds Residents. Access to nature and outside spaces should have no financial barrier. 

In an ongoing cost of living crisis many will rely on these open spaces as free “things to do” for themselves or their families. 

My child loves exploring the parks, their playgrounds, watching the wildlife, running and learning about nature. We will no longer be able to just run out to one of the larger parks whenever we like. This freedom of access has been cruelly and thoughtlessly taken from us.

These parks are also just not within walking distance of most Leeds residents. Adding a financial barrier to access will impact thousands across the Leeds area who have come to rely on free access to these public spaces for their mental and physical wellbeing.

This is an unnecessary and deeply unkind attack on those who need access the most.
