Sumo fans who wish to watch grand sumo tournaments via broadcast streams must either reside in Japan, or take measures such as using a VPN to make their connection outside of Japan appear to be from inside Japan.

Sumo fans may also search for alternative streams which re-broadcast official streams. These alternative streams may or may not have added commentary in English or other languages. These alternative streams, while helpful, are not ideal for sumo fans. They are difficult to find, may be lower quality than official broadcasts, and may include interruptions which are not present in official broadcast streams.

To provide the best viewing experience for sumo fans, we respectfully ask ABEMA to remove the region block from the official stream. If this is not possible, we respectfully ask ABEMA to add a second official stream which is available globally.

Note that this petition does not specifically request the addition of English commentary. This petition only concerns the availability of the Japanese stream.
