A Call for Excommunication of Pura Luka Vega in Catholic Church

The Issue

Filipino drag artist Pura Luka Vega sparked heated debates on social media after posting a video of herself singing an Ama Namin (The Lord's Prayer) remix to a cheering crowd at a bar.

The remix was a punk rock version of the Catholic Mass worship song, and Vega performed this in an outfit that seems to portray Jesus Christ.

Her performance has elicited mixed reactions from netizens. Some asserted that what the former Drag Den Philippines contestant did was "offensive" and "blasphemous," while others were adamant in defending the drag artist against criticisms, saying that it was merely an "expression of art."

CBCP HAS NO PLANS OF COMPLAINING PUKA LUKA VEGA

Despite of disappointments, the influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has no plans to file a complaint against Puka Luka Vega, in relation to its controversial 'Our Father' drag performance.
Fr. Jerome Secillano, executive secretary of the CBCP Commission on Public Affairs, admitted that they were disappointed when Vega used a holy and biblical prayer and even costume Jesus Christ, for entertainment purposes only.
Despite this, Secillano said they have gotten their message public enough and had no plans of taking legal action against Vega.
They are not forcing Vega to apologize to the Catholic community for what he did but they want to convey that what he did was wrong and disrespectful to the Catholic religion.

Therefore by making this petition enclose the hope that The Catholic Church takes action since their Filipino counterpart has no action about the mockery of Christian faith not only in the Philippines but around the world.
