2100 Newport Ridge Dr - Conserve as Community Park - Wildlife Preservation
The Issue

Please sign and share our petition to reject Polygon Garibaldi Spring Homes application to expand into 2100 Newport Ridge Dr with 4 large buildings consisting of 123 townhouses.
2100 Newport Ridge Dr is our community park, brimming with beautiful nature and wildlife, a significant and important part of life in Squamish.
The goal of this petition is to put pressure on the council and District of Squamish to go back and review the master planned community that was approved back in 2018. After 7 years, I believe it this is a good opportunity to ensure Polygon and the DOS are meeting the needs of Squamish residents and not just developing for developments sake.
If Polygon's permit application gets approved, a large amount of nature and wild animals will be heavily affected. Inside this beautiful park are two ponds and many wetlands with flowing waters that home important animals to our ecosystem and habitat such as beavers, bears, herons, eagles, salmon, owls, ravens, crows, many species of birds, small fauna, insects, frogs and more.
This community park also allows the public to enjoy its beauty and open space by walking dogs, riding bikes, jogging etc. If homes are placed here, the loss of this wonderfully large outdoor space, will be detrimental to the need of open recreation spaces in Squamish and detrimental to the conservation of many important species that unequivocally share outdoor space with us.
It is important we take immediate action to voice our concerns and needs about this matter. Please add your name to this petition if you repeatedly, sometimes or rarely come to this park to enjoy its beauty and wildlife.
Conservation should be a focal point for all of us that love and live in Squamish.
