Visa Inc. is a globally recognized financial services corporation that facilitates electronic fund transfers primarily through its branded credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards. The California-based firm, founded in 1958, operates one of the world's largest and most sophisticated payment-processing networks, which is capable of handling more than 65,000 transaction messages per second. Visa does not actually issue cards or provide credit; instead, it provides financial institutions with Visa-branded payment products that they then use to offer credit, debit, prepaid, and cash-access programs to their customers.
