Include the Green Party in the TV Leaders' Debates ahead of the 2015 General Election.

It has been announced that the leader of UKIP, Nigel Farage has been invited to join the leaders debates on national TV before next year's general election. However Natalie Bennett, leader of the Green Party, has been excluded from these debates. UKIP has just gained its first MP; the Greens have had an MP (Caroline Lucas) for 4 years. The Green Party beat the Liberal Democrats in the 2014 European Elections and is polling neck-and-neck with them in General Election opinion polls. In May 2014 more than 1.2 million people voted Green - more than 150,000 more than voted Liberal Democrat. Natalie Bennett has just as much a right to be on that panel as the men. Apparently it’s too “messy” to have too many candidates in a TV debate.  By excluding a party with a female leader, we are sending a clear message to the public — politics is still an old boys club.

Enable subtitles for On Demand

My name is Jamie, I’m 17 years old, and I have severe hearing loss in both ears.  Like you, I enjoy watching the latest must-see TV show. Whether it’s Game of Thrones or this week’s episodes of Eastenders, I want to be part of the conversations that all of my friends are having. However, as a Sky customer, I’m always missing out. Like most people with hearing loss, I rely on subtitles that show us what’s being said on screen and what other viewers can hear. Without them, it’s just moving pictures to me. There are more than 10million of us in the UK yet, despite being the UK’s biggest television subscription provider, Sky’s On Demand and Sky Go services, as well as their box sets, are completely inaccessible to us, because they have no subtitles. People with hearing loss want to be able to watch what they want, when they want, how they want – just like everyone else. I feel angry and upset that my disability doesn’t matter to Sky. It’s unacceptable that they are denying people who have a hearing loss access to the same level of entertainment as hearing people. That’s called discrimination under the Equality Act, which states that people with hearing loss shouldn’t get a poorer service due to their disability. Worse still, we’re paying more than £250 a year for a service that we can’t fully use. This isn't fair. Sky have replied to this petition in the past saying that they are ‘exploring how to address this gap’. This simply isn't good enough. Customers have been raising this issue since 2011, but it’s still not a priority for Sky. They won’t even state a timeframe for getting this sorted out. Sky have even told some customers with hearing loss that, because Catch up TV is given ‘free’ to customers, it doesn't matter that it’s not accessible! I find this insulting to people with hearing loss. It’s the 21st century and the technology is available to ensure content on Sky’s On Demand services can have subtitles, just like on their ‘traditional’ channels such as Sky News and Sky One. I simply want the same service as everyone else. Please help me to get Sky to improve their service for people with hearing loss.   We have now declared a 'victory' on this petition and I'd like to thank you for your support for the petition and that it has now paid off.  Sky TV have announced they will be subtitling at least 80 percent of On Demand content, we are hopeful this will be even higher in the next year.  Sky have also promised to make their online services such as Sky Go, Sky apps and NowTV more accessible, I will be keeping on top of these developments and ensure that they are subtitled.  Once again, thank you all very much for your input and support. Jamie.

SAVE ORANGUTANS! Air Icelands essential advert

ProblemHead over to Icelands Social media. A beautiful and sad advert that highlights the things we are doing to our planet. Palm oil, it kills hundreds of Orangutans Every day. Iceland Highlighted this beautifully in their advert telling a story of how they do not sell palm oil and will not this christmas. However, their advert was banned. This could educate so many on conservation as every animal is essential to the ecosystem. But they banned it so many people will be left unaware...SolutionBRING BACK ICELANDS ADVERT. Please help raise awareness on deforestation by signing the petition to help raise awareness on conservation. Animals are dying because of us and now is the time to act more than ever. Personal storyI am a keeper at an animal sanctuary and I have loved animals since a young age. I know the effects just the loss of one animal has on an ecosystem. One animal loss affects all. In my life I have seen what we are doing to the planet. Now is the time to act more than ever. The loss of animals effects us also. No more trees- no more fresh air. Global warming- a national disaster, drouts and even ice ages! no more forests- no more medicines. No more animals- a pretty boring planet left with a selfish species. Please help. Thank you.

Grazie, #SaveAsia

Televise all womens rugby games

Women’s rugby should be on television for all to watch. In a world of apparent equality, this shouldn’t even be an issue, but women’s rugby has been televised very rarely on Tv and on any other social media platform.  Over the many years of watching rugby, womens rugby has had to unfairly take a back seat. We are slowly coming out of the dark ages and some major games like the 6 nations are finally starting to get some coverage, but autumn internationals and lower level games don’t. This is not good enough. Having a young impressionable daughter who plays rugby and wants to support wales men and women, means I have to try and answer the question, why women’s rugby is not on television. I can’t answer that, as I see no logical reason for it. No young women or girls aspiring to play rugby in this day and age, should have to wonder why the ladies games are not valid enough to grace our screens like our wonderful men’s game.  Please help this petition go forward, because womens rugby is an amazing game to watch, and is something the public are losing out on.

Prevent BSKYB from profiting by charging extortionate fees to Ty Hafan Children's Hospice

It has recently been discovered that Ty Hafan Children's Hospice in South Wales have had to cancel their much needed Sky TV package due to budget restraints. It has also become apparent that the reason for this is that Sky were charging well in excess of £7000 a year for their service. This has resulted in a lot of disappointed children in the hospice. Sky have been profiting from a charity that relies on public donations for support and their cause is one of the most worthwhile causes you will find anywhere. We believe that Sky should now provide a free service, as Ty Hafan have already paid too much for what should be a low cost service to assist children who are severely disabled or terminally ill, and the families of such children. This should also be extended to any other organisations of a similar nature who have been in the same position.

Take The Film BRIDGEND OFF SKY TV/Cinema to PREVENT Further Emotional Distress

It has come to the attention of the families of Bridgend in South Wales that the film "BRIDGEND" has been uploaded to Sky Cinema and other streaming sites. This is causing many of the people of bridgend and other areas emotional distress. The film has not been based on any TRUTH. It is slanderous and a film that glorifies suicide. The media had a huge part to play in what went on in bridgend and for that they where silenced by the police of South Wales and the families that where affected. The circumstances of each loss where individual and in no way a CULT or CULTURE of any KIND exists or existed in Bridgend. Once again the media is glorifying suicide and making money off the loss and pain of those affected. It is a mockery! One family in particular where told that this was never going to be aired in Wales! The film should be blocked! Please help us get Sky/ Netflix any other streaming sites to take the film DOWN. Sky you make enough money without having to use a disgusting film like this. The producer and actors have paid no thought to the devastation or the feelings of the people who have lost their loved ones. It is appalling that you have taken suicide, fabricated the truths and glorified it tonline your pockets. This is a DISGRACE!  Sky Cinema please take this Film Down.  Netflix Please Take This Film Down.  This film in no way depicts any truth. Bridgend and the families affected have suffered enough.

Keep F1 on free-to-Air TV

Formula one is the pinnacle of motorsport. Millions of fans from around the world watch as the greatest teams and drivers battle it out to become world champions. However, since 2015, the UK’s average audience has dropped from 3.1 million (BBC coverage) to an average of 2.5 million ( 1.9 million of channel 4 coverage and 652,000 of Sky’s coverage). To stop this decline, Liberty Media who own F1 need to attract new fans to the sport, especially the younger generations. Unfortunately, this isn’t happening and probably won’t happen because of one main reason. In 2019, F1 in the UK will become exclusive to Sky customers, which means no more free-to-Air coverage. I have seen many people on social media complaining that once this happens, they will no longer be able to watch the sport they love. I am one of them. As a 17 year old, I have only been following F1 for about 5 years. However, my interest in the sport was first raised when I was 7 and Lewis Hamilton won he’s first world championship. If it wasn’t for free-to-Air F1 I would have never been able to watch my beloved sport. And that’s what will happen if Formula One goes exclusively to Sky. It won’t just effect me. It will effect all the other thousands of F1 fans and potential F1 fans who can’t afford to watch Sky. Plus, let’s not forget that in many households, Sky is not available due to landlords not having Sky installed or simply not having access to internet cables. Please sign this petition. We can’t let our sport die.Thank you.

Enable subtitles for On Demand

Hi, At Sky, we are very conscious of the needs of our customers with disabilities and we welcome your feedback. We are committed to increasing the accessibility of our content, including to our customers who are hard of hearing. On our linear programming, we deliver over 80% of all content with subtitles on our most viewed channels, and have rolled out subtitles to new channels such as Sky Sports F1 and Sky Atlantic. We are also working to continually improve the quality of our live subtitles. It is also possible to record programmes remotely and automatically with subtitles so they can be viewed at your convenience. We intend to keep improving in this area andknow there is a gap at present with the subtitling of On Demand content. We are exploring how to address this and will keep customers updated as we move forward. More broadly, you may find it useful to know that we offer a dedicated customer service team for customers with disabilities and run a website at https://accessibility.sky.com/ providing information about access services and our accessible products. This site includes accessible TV listings and a remote control function. We also ensure that customers who find it difficult to have a telephone conversation can still contact this specialist team by TexBox which is a direct text to text service and a British Sign Language video relay service. In addition to subtitling, we also create in house audio description for customers with visual impairment and vocalise the TV schedule via the Sky Talker. An easy-grip remote control for customers is also available . Enter your response here…
