Lee Ardrey Harris is an American politician and legal scholar currently serving as the Mayor of Shelby County, Tennessee, a position he has held since 2018. A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Harris has a robust background in both law and public service. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he graduated from Overton High School and pursued higher education at Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in International Relations. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. Harris's political career began on the Memphis City Council, representing District 7, before he served as a Tennessee State Senator for the 29th district from 2015 to 2018. In addition to his political career, he is a law professor at the University of Memphis and has worked as an associate at the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. Harris's career reflects his commitment to public service and education.
