Efforts to “push” the Supercomputer out of Memphis.

Efforts to “push” the Supercomputer out of Memphis.
The Issue
Elon Musk’s company xAI placed his SuperComputer Colossus in South Memphis. This plant would require massive amounts of energy, pollute the air, and threaten our water systems. Musk’s has been expanding at an extremely rapid rate buying multiple acres of land to pollute the city and not adhering to federal regulations.
xAI and Musk have violated Title V of the Clean Air Act with his gas turbines that have spread Formaldehyde and other pollutants into the Memphis Air, endangering a community with respiratory issues 4xs greater than other communities. They were able to circumvent regulations by placing these 18 gas turbines on mobile units and moving them around the leased site that houses the Colossus Supercomputer.
Sign this petition to keep Elon Musk and his pollution out of Memphis.
The plant is located in South Memphis, which has a history of experiencing environmental racism. The cancer rate is 4 times higher than the national average, the residents have elevated asthma rates and a life expectancy that is 10 years lower in contrast to the rest of the city. The neighborhood where the plant will be located, Boxtown, didn’t have running water or electricity until 1979
Neither xAI, Elon Musk, Ted Townsend of Greater Memphis Chamber or Mayor Paul Young have revealed where the energy will come from. MLGW and TVA cannot provide 1 gigawatt of power for the 1 million GPU's. This means that the vast majority of power will come from more GAS TURBINEs that will dump more pollution into the air. xAI claims they will use their Tesla Megapacks to supplement power needs at peak power so as not to strain the grid. NO ONE CAN PROVE IF THIS CLAIM IS A VIABLE SOLUTION TO COVERING A POTENTIAL CRISIS--- MEMPHIS HAS ALREADY BEEN SUBJECTED TO TEMPORARY BLACKOUTS IN THE PAST WITH ADDITIONAL WARNINGS OF BLACK AND BROWNOUTS DURING PEAK USAGE.
This “SuperComputer” will not benefit Memphis residents. The facility does not bring in an influx of jobs, just an influx of pollution that makes us sick. Musk tried to place his facility here for a reason, it’s just another form of systemic oppression and corruption.
The Black residents of South Memphis are not disposable, and we will not be quiet while Elon Musk tries to use all our water and pollute our air in order to line his pockets.
This amount of pollution will be detrimental throughout the whole Memphis/ midsouth area. This is a human rights violation.
Please call the city of Memphis’ office to express your concerns and frustration for the city.
