Brazilian Government

The Brazilian Government functions as a federal republic and is composed of three distinct branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is headed by the president who is both the head of state and government, serving a four-year term and can be re-elected for another subsequent term. The legislative branch, known as the National Congress, consists of the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. The judicial branch is independent and has its apex in the Supreme Federal Court. Brazil operates under a multi-party system, and the politics and governance are closely intertwined with corruption issues.
