Arno Kompatscher is an Italian politician who has served as the President of South Tyrol, an autonomous province in northern Italy, since 2014. Before his presidency, Kompatscher served as mayor of Völs am Schlern from 2005 to 2014. Born in Völs am Schlern, South Tyrol, he is a member of the South Tyrolean People's Party. Kompatscher is known for his advocacy for increased autonomy of South Tyrol and his work in maintaining and improving the economic and cultural prosperity of the region. He represents the German-speaking population of the province.
