Garcia later served as a councilmember on the Houston City Council, where his leadership abilities were recognized, leading to his appointment as Mayor Pro-Tem. He also played a pivotal role as the Director of the Houston Anti-Gang Office, demonstrating his commitment to reducing crime and fostering community safety. As the Harris County Sheriff, he continued to focus on law enforcement and community welfare. Currently, he serves as the Commissioner for Precinct 2 in Harris County, where he remains dedicated to public service and cultural outreach.
