Whilst I am a Non-Binary 19-year-old teenager, I was assigned female at birth and want all women and people with uteruses to be able to keep their bodies safe and choose what they do with their bodies. Abortion has saved lives, and I believe if someone decides to get an abortion, they shouldn't be shamed for it because there are many good reasons to get one that is valid. Regardless of your view on abortion, people deserve support and respect for the decisions they make, and they deserve to live.
My mum would of died without the medical abortion she received after a miscarriage, and I don't want any child to lose a parent just because they couldn't get the medical care they need
I'm not tech savvy, and I don't care to be because talking F2F is a far better way to communicate and in today's world....young people are not learning how to do this the right way. So I'm writing this message and I want the Govt and all ministers in health to make sure ALL WOMEN must have access to available, supportive and non judgemental healthcare when making the life changing decision to terminate a pregnancy. There's so many and varied reasons a woman must make this choice, so the last hurdle should NOT be the fight to find somewhere safe, affordable, or cost free to go through this. It is a medical procedure afterall and in a lot of cases time is not on the side of the woman....so options need to be on hand & accessible just like any other need for medical care. Govt needs to stop wasting money on ridiculous things...
And make the health system Nationally much, much, much better!! Like as in yesterday!
Women are the only ones who should have a say about their own bodies. Abortion should be available to any woman who wants one. Always good reasons to get an abortion, no one does it lightly. No one besides the woman seeking an abortion should have any business with it, besides her doctor. Where are we that once again women have to struggle to have a basic need denied?
Nobody should have the right to tell anyone, especially a woman, what she can and cannot do with her body. And nobody should have the right to tell a woman that she has to get pregnant, has to see out a pregnancy, or has to get an abortion - but if she needs or wants to, she should be able to do so safely, supported, and cared for. It's healthcare. Simple!
I had to have a termination 20 years ago. This was due to medical reasons. It was a heart breaking decision. There are so many reasons a women needs a termination and women should not be denied access to this. It's a heart breaking decision no matter what the reason is.
I believe that women should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies. They shouldn’t be judged for having an abortion whether they have a good reason to or not. We deserve to have more access to these services.
In 1990's, my mother needed my father's written permission to have her tubes tied
In 2010's, my best friend was required by Qld law to demonstrate pregnancy would be harmful, bearing the costs, shame and pain alone
In 2030's I hope my daughter finally has the same rights to her body as her brother does to his
I have signed this petition in support of women that find themselves in a similar position to my wife. We tried for a third child and understood that it would be difficult given the extreme level of hyperemesis gravidarum that my wife experienced with the pregnancies of our first two children. Sadly a third pregnancy was just one too many. The toll it was taking was far too much and fearing that my wife would not survive long enough to see the pregnancy to term we made the difficult decision to proceed with an abortion. It has been a difficult decision to live with, but one we feel was necessary to make sure that my wife could live to see her first two kids grow up. I would hate to imagine what life would be like right now had abortion services not been available and had my wife's condition deteriorated.
1 in 3 women in Australia are sexually harassed and raped. If the government will not take extremely stronger actions to prevent this from happening, and to keep women safe, then the least they can do is provide free abortion services, especially if the pregnancy is dangerous to the woman carrying the child.
