Every year my dog is terrified to leave her bed once fireworks start. Especially terrified to go back outside after fireworks occur. It impacts her severely, and we hate to see her in pure fear.
It’s especially awful when someone sets fireworks off during the day. I will never know when it happens, but once it does, my dog will try running back home to hide in her bed. Nothing can comfort her, and it’s really not necessary for random people to set fireworks off anywhere they want.
Two of our sweet retired racing greyhounds were traumatized by fireworks. We lost one of them, O’Riley, to a firework stress related incident after Canada Day neighbourhood fireworks. The trauma both of our dogs experienced was not humane. The fireworks available to the general public are just too powerful to be used in residential neighbourhoods.
This park is one of the only green spaces in the area where I can take my dogs. The south has so many places and new communities seem to have much more green space so why is the only one in this area being taken away?
Seal hunting is an inhumane and outdated practice that has no place in a compassionate society. These intelligent, innocent beings deserve to live freely and safely in their natural habitat. Please end this unnecessary violence, let’s choose kindness and coexistence.
