Coach Pete impacted so many lives that will last forever in the Whittier community. He was more than just a basketball coach—he was a father figure and mentor to so many of us. Coach Pete IS Whittier, and he deserves all the love and support that's coming his way.

He allowed my younger son to practice with the team, and now is thriving in NJB on a team that Coach Pete recommended him for. He plays all stars and BYT and it all traces back to Coach Pete. He was a very special man. I really miss him. He is more than deserving of a memorial to remember him for a long time.

My wife and I live in a small 100 year old house that has been mechanically modernized. It is highly energy efficient, due in part to its modest size. I thank my lucky stars every day I own a home, and intend to live modestly, and care for it the rest of my life. I am surrounded by neighbors doing the same thing.
Crown Hill has already been designated an “urban village” with zoning changes from the turn of the century. To alter and expand these changes now will significantly alter the community to the benefit of nobody looking for affordable housing. Not one single new unit built will be affordable to the Seattle resident looking for a home on hourly wages. These changes, however, benefit the usual suspects: developers.
The frictional cost of moving are enormous, both in physical and emotional effort, and monetary costs of taxes, fees, and real estate commissions. Those of us already living on the border of single family loaning and multi-family housing, cannot easily move away from the rising tide of Developertown.

We can’t afford to live were we were born anymore and living in these not affordable apartments where slumlords don’t care about there tenants doesn’t help!

I could never afford to live in my neighborhood again due to the rezoning and complete rack of value of middle income families. Zoning specifies that they will be low income and middle income access to housing and we have not seen that in any of the structures that have gone up thus far You are deeply concerned and will do everything that we can to vote you the council, Auto office if the families that have grown up here are ignored. Repeat ignored in this issue our voice matters, and we are not listen to big business and taxes paid by developers are destroying neighborhoods. My neighborhood does not have the infrastructure to handle rezoning and is wreaking havoc on current systems. I see this when I talk to plumbers electricians contractors anytime I have my hard work done. I hear their voices as well. Listen to your constituents and balance the proposals to consider the voices of the people that vote you into Office And will not stand for any abuse to middle income families, and the culture that they have worked so hard to provide for their children thank you for your consideration Ross Anderson registered nurse.

We’ve seen an enormous amount of changes to our neighborhood some good some not so good. We understand we need to increase density to Seattle. The plan put in front of us right now is not the right plan though. We can see that by what has already been going on in our neighborhood. Crime is increasing, (our son‘s car was stolen on Tuesday the 10th from right in front of our house) it is overcrowded and parking is impossible. Five story tall buildings in our neighborhood is not the answer. Density can be increased with smaller dwellings that match the character of the neighborhood.
Debbie supported: Whittier Neighbors Against Seattle Upzoning ProposalNo one wants this, our neighborhood loves privacy and peace. Upzoning would bring high amounts of foot and car traffic. Our community block parties would be unorganizable, there would be no where to park. In addition, 17th ave has been made into a greenway. If these buildings were to be introduced it would increase car access on this greenway and make it pointless. Our neighborhood also has had a plethora of sewer issues, flooding, backups, just with the amount of people currently living here. The people who build these buildings are not responsible for upgrading the neighborhood facilities, so 5 story buildings all using the same section of sewer would be awful and require so much time and money to fix. I honestly doubt these 5 story townhomes and apartments would even be affordable for my own generation. Housing in seattle is looking bleak and undesirable. Many of the homes in ballard are over 100 years old, they may be run down or outdated in some aspects, but they are our homes. Yes, we should be making housing more affordable, but it shouldn’t require building 5 story homes that make it so no one else in the neighborhood gets to see the sunrise.
Zara supported: Whittier Neighbors Against Seattle Upzoning ProposalI’ve lived on Alonzo Ave NW for almost 20 years and appreciate the amenities of living in a vibrant neighborhood. It’s the best smelling street in city because so much good food is produced just short stroll from the front door. The area has changed during this time, some good, some bad.
First the good. Alonzo is a tree lined street and we our proud stewards of some large trees and appreciate living in our little forest. We have done significant improvements to our home over the years and plan to stay until priced out of Seattle.
However, during this time, some of the polish has worn off as we have had to deal with unbearable parking and constant blocking of driveways by patrons of the businesses down the street. The city has turned a blind eye to our parking issues and won’t respond in a timely manner when we are unable to enter our driveway. I have concerns that the parking will only get worse and the overall character of the area will continue to erode as more poorly built houses and townhomes get built.
I am concerned about the limited housing stock and affordable housing, but all new townhomes and houses in the area frequently list and sell for $800k and up. This is not helping the affordability problem that has become the norm in coastal cities.
It seems more planning and time is needed before this zoning change is foisted on a surprised neighborhood that only become aware of this in late November and early December. It seems like there is a moderate approach the can be found, but the proposed zoning change is far from moderate and should be reconsidered.
