Whistleblowers play a crucial role in exposing corruption, misconduct, and wrongdoing in various industries and organizations. Recent events have highlighted the importance of protecting whistleblowers and ensuring their voices are heard. Petitions under this topic advocate for whistleblower protection laws, transparency in government and corporate practices, and accountability for those who retaliate against whistleblowers.
One impactful petition calls for stronger legal protections for whistleblowers in the workplace, citing cases where individuals faced retaliation for speaking out. Another petition demands accountability for government officials who target whistleblowers exposing sensitive information.
Join the movement to support whistleblowers and hold those in power accountable for their actions. Your involvement can help create a safe environment for whistleblowers to come forward and make a positive change in society.
As a former volunteer/foster, I, along with others, were banned from helping when we raised these issues several years ago. Our concerns were summarily dismissed by both management and the board when we asked questions about the unnecessary euthanasia of cats/kittens
Those poor animals did not ask to be there and then killed just because. It takes a sorry POS person to do that. All the animals need to be removed to a safe place and the chance to be adopted. 3000 killed in a matter of months is uncalled for. I hug my rescues tighter today for that reason. It could of been them.
This situation at the HSCC is making it very difficult for pet owners who are on a fixed income. For years HSCC has made it possible for low income/fixed income pet owners to receive care for their pet. Many families are scrambling trying to find trustworthy clinics they can afford. Families and their pets are suffering in more ways than one even more so now. HSCC should be ashamed of the position they've put these families in. Families that have service animals especially need this service. Finances are tight already obviously since they have a service animal and this situation just adds to their strain. So yes, this is a terrible situation that impacts more than the animals. IT'S IMPACTING FAMILIES!!!
This is heartbreaking to learn about this. We adopted in 2021 two hound mixed puppies (their names are Huck and Finn) and glad we did, because they could have gone through even more terrible things by being at this shelter. I think these individuals should be held accountable by the law; they abused, neglected, and killed innocent animals! I hold a license in the medical field and if I abused, neglected, or harmed; much less killed an individual, I would be held accountable by the law. The employees and volunteers trying their best to do the right thing by these animals deserve better, the animals deserve better, and people who donate money and items to this shelter deserve better. Please fix this situation and take care of the animals and the people who are doing the right thing.
I worked at the Hickory location from september to december in 2019. My first day I witnessed a mass euthanasia of kittens brought in due to lack of room. euthanasia is heavily encouraged if theres lack of room, or if an animal is the least bit aggressive or self isolating. The woman training me would refuse to adopt out animals based solely on what someone would look like, irregardless of if they could provide them with a good home. They encouraged denying applications, and requested insane adoption prices, making it nearly impossible to get animals homes. We were understaffed, overworked, and surrounded by unnecessary death and filth on a daily basis. Often cages went dirty for hours, and feedings missed due to carelessness, and just plain laziness at the hands of those in that jobs position. When church members brought in blankets for animals, they were collected and immediately discarded in the trash, leaving animals to lay on cold hard floors. Smiling and lying to the women who donated the blankets promising they’d be used for the animals. That very same protocol was carried out when un-opened food was donated as well, be it bags or cans. i worked at both a boarding facility and a pet ER for many years prior this position, and HSCC scarred me so badly that I couldn’t last more than 60 days under their employment. the debilitating guilt and crippling sadness i had leaving work on a daily basis due to the injustice and neglect the animals were subjected to overrode any other emotion i was able to feel. these animals deserve better.
I have adopted from HSCC several times and I'm terribly concerned that the voices of the staff are not being heard or listened to. One thing that creates unity in our community is our love for animals and concern for their wellbeing. The board needs to talk to former staff and volunteers, have those difficult conversations, and put aside any bias or favoritism of this failed leadership to correct the issues and protect those who want to help keep the organization open. I personally will not associate with HSCC for future adoptions unless there are changes and both animals and people are treated with dignity.
I adopted my sweet kitty from this shelter and know first hand the caring nature and hard work of the employees who have been treated so terribly under current management. The animals, volunteers, and employees deserve better.
I’m signing this to suppose the abuse my aunt and her fellow coworkers went through. No one would ever have to do the mean and horrible things that women made them do to those poor innocent animals!
I have used the HSCC for years and many spay/neuter animals and TNR cats, the truth’s coming from employees and former employees/volunteers is heartbreaking 💔 Something needs to change.
