Signing in honor of the family of Mary Lou Gayle and all that they’ve been through. Give the families the support they need and be accountable, instead of spending all that money on memorials that only force them to relive the trauma every year.
Being a survivor of that tragedy and one who has dealt with a significant amount of PTSD and resulting epilepsy from that horrific day. I just want help be a positive voice for change.
This is one of my favorite preserves on the East coast. It would be a shame and disservice to not only the wildlife but also the ecosystems that it protects. There are enough condos and development already. We come from NY to visit this preserve and it would be a shame to loose part of it.

Since my arrival in 1978 to Shore Drive area, I have witnessed many exploits of various City Council decisions, going back to the Green Line of R.G. Moore developments days. What has been done to Shore Drive in the name of "progress" is SHAMEFUL! It is interesting that other parts of VB (and NC outbanks) are able to say NO and control the encroachment. In all these years, I never thought I would see traffic jams on Shore Drive... Over-developed saturation already in effect - It would be interesting, and in my opinion revealing, to track City Council members "going in" worth compared to net worth on being voted out; not unlike bigger politics such as Senate and Congressional "lifers". At some point, you just have to say NO, albeit "The Song Remains the Same". Many of us were (or thought to be) successful stopping the Pleasure House Point development (Sandler Bros sale). So much for that... Follow the money... who in the approval chain benefits??? I have to wonder if a prior City Council member and related family are still around skulking behind the scene? One must wonder...
This carnage is horrific. It’s the reason Bob and I moved out of our beloved Ocean Park. Over development has destroyed the quaint special beach neighborhood.
Please consider purchasing credits instead of going ahead with the project that will destroy so much. I've walked my dogs here many times. Leave it wild as it is and instead of destroying, maintain and help the area to remain wild.
Why destroy what we have? What about the birds that use the trees? We need green for all the people of VABeach. This area is Ocean Parks legacy to our neighborhood and the entire city.
I strongly believe in protecting wildlife, including diverse bird species and vital oyster beds, rather than prioritizing the profits of the greedy. Destroying these trees would have devastating consequences for the ecosystem and the countless creatures that depend on it.
The “rushing” is almost as concerning. The public needs time to review and provide feedback. I won’t pretend to know how all this works, but there are so few nature areas as it is. This seems excessive. How is this supposed to help the area? The signs at PHP INSTRUCT to preserve the natural habitats. If this is allowed, what’s next? Houses? They keep trying… Please push back! This is a very beloved area!
