I attended North View as a child and find it heartbreaking that the school is closing due to consolidation. Education should be our number one priority and believw that Emmanuel Christian should be given this building to continue educating those who need it most in this crazy world.
Keep the smaller schools to allow our children to experience more possibilities that they would not be able to achieve if thrown in a bigger school, with a lot more children, and a lot less opportunities to join athletics, clubs, etc due to the excessive amount of competition. Many schools have been hastily shut down, causing unemployment, a lack of uninterrupted one-on-one assistance from teachers/aids, less opportunity for children to be able to participate on teams due to the number of children trying out and not enough spots to fill, a lack of getting to know local families on a more personal/professional manner, etc. Cramming a bunch of kids from smaller schools in one bigger school as we were as a second graduating class at RCB made a lot of kids not take pride in their school, kids feeling out numbered, unheard, and as a small fish in a huge sea. It only made a grand majority resent the fact that we were shoved out of our school the middle of our junior year of high school and forced into a school that we all despised wanting to graduate from Washington Irving like so many of or family members had done previously.
That school has been there for years my children went there my grandchildren went there now the 2 kids I adopted r gone there I would love for them to continue going
I attended ECS for 6 years, to say they prepared me for college is an understatement. I couldn't believe how easy my college classes were in comparison to the curriculums I had already completed in highschool. Not to mention that after 14 years, I still have friendships to this day, that I made at ECS. This place continues to bless me, even in my adult life, because of the countless teachers who poured their lives into me to help me soar.
I went to northview elementary when I was a kid, over 30 some years ago, and I would really love to see it remain open for the children in the community.
