I strongly support a vote of no confidence which will serve as a resounding declaration to President Callahan: our collective conscience will no longer abide a leadership style steeped in manipulation. His pronouncements within our town hall forum carried a disquieting subtext, betraying a perceived primary motivation rooted in pecuniary gain, a stark deficiency in the very essence of principled leadership.
President Callahan's tenure has become a source of profound disquiet, an unwelcome embarrassment to the esteemed deans, dedicated administrators, diligent staff, and the very students who form the heart of this institution. We yearn for a leader whose vision transcends personal ambition, one who champions the flourishing of all our schools with unwavering commitment.
The ethical and moral bedrock upon which this institution was founded demands a leader who operates with transparency and integrity, guided by a comprehensive understanding of facts rather than the contrivance of processes designed solely to serve a personal agenda. The absence of meaningful consultation with the established leaders of our schools further underscores a deeply troubling disregard for collaborative governance and the collective wisdom that resides within our academic community.
This vote is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is a fervent plea for a fundamental shift in leadership. We seek an individual who will uphold the highest ethical standards, whose decisions are informed by knowledge and guided by a genuine commitment to the well-being and advancement of every facet of this institution. The time has come for a leader who inspires trust, fosters collaboration, and embodies the very values we strive to instill in our students.
It is very disheartening to read of the struggling coordination between the President and faculty. As a recent graduate, I place faith in the ruling with faculty voting no confidence on this issue to support continuing academic excellence through teamwork.
Dental School alumnus class of 2012, signing in protest of the proposed changes at the Dugoni Dental School. Increasing the class size without making the necessary changes to the staffing and infrastructure will dilute the quality Dugoni is known for, and ultimately be detrimental to literally all stakeholders in the medium- to long-term. Do not sacrifice the reputation of the dental school--which took 50 years to build-- just to get a one-time cash stimulus from bloating the class size.
I submit this petition in strong support for the vote of no confidence against President Callahan. I'm also here In support for UOP dental school and Dean Nadershahi, and as you will see my experience sheds light on the damage this approach could cause to both the dental school and the university as a whole.
As a graduate of both the undergraduate school and the dental school and Having been faculty at another major dental school, I’ve seen firsthand how leadership driven by school politics and disconnected decision-making can hinder both the quality of education and the reputation of a school. The dysfunction I’ve witnessed in dental schools across the country often results from the same type of top-down interference President Callahan has imposed on UOP's dental school.
Dean Nadershahi is the embodiment of what most people imagine the perfect dean to be. His leadership has fostered an environment where faculty, staff, and students thrive, making UOP’s dental school a model of excellence. It’s a place that produces some of the best-trained doctors in the country—something that other schools admire and envy.
President Callahan’s disruptive actions threaten to undo this hard-earned success, putting at risk the reputation of the dental school and the broader university. Considering that UOP is most well known for its post graduate programs its hard to understate the negative impact of Callahans approach it his destructive ways of trying to bring change.
For the sake of UOP’s continued success, I urge a reconsideration of this approach and a renewed commitment to the leadership Dean Nadershahi represents. I know if President Callahan stays it will tell me everything I need to know about the direction the school is heading and my child will be attending neither school.
President Callahan is a part of the reason why the UOP B.A. Liberal Studies Diversified Teacher Education major is now gone. As one of the last persons to graduate out, I'd like to say shame on Callahan for not believing in us teachers and for saying our profession is dying. 2021 95% in Benerd professors retired in response, since then I have had a watered down program of study. If he doesn't feel like the surrounding community deserves quality teachers he should be fired for his actions.
As a member of the Stockton LGBTQIA+ community, I am outraged that UOP would allow an event that is so completely and blatantly transphobic to take place on their campus. I have always seen UOP as such a diverse school and as being very progressive and this is an absolute disappointment to me. Trans humans have always existed and will continue to exist until the end of time! Please stop this madness and cancel this event. Your students and the community of Stockton deserve better!
As a trans nonbinary alumni I am disgusted that UOP would choose to platform someone who is providing such vile, harmful rhetoric regarding the trans community. This is dangerous, and now more than ever UOP needs to be uplifting the trans community.
As a graduate Alum of UOP, it's disappointing to see administration allow someone that is fundamentally detrimental to LGBTQ+ students existence to speak on campus. Janet Leigh's daughter Jamie Leigh - an outspoken advocate of this community - would surely be disappointed to hear this event is taking place in a theater named for her mother. Pacific still has the opportunity to course correct and cancel this event.
I’ve lived in stockton my entire life and it may be a lot of things but it’s usually none of the isms or phobias. i mean seriously, we are all so tough on the outside but so loving on the inside. i’ve never felt like i can’t be myself while living here as a lesbian woman of color. this is a direct attack on the lgbt community and it’s so disappointing to see this event being held ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS. there’s no room to push hateful agendas here. don’t worry community, if they don’t cancel this event, i will attend and make sure no one else can get a word in :))) whoever accepted this event and whoever pastor yoo is… you should be ashamed of yourself. in a time like this we need more love not hate. do better.
