I am so sorry to read of how the NHS ignored u. It happened to me when I was 30, I was presenting with womb cancer symptoms and was ignored until I had a camera in my womb and biopsies which found the cancer.. When I was 36 I visited my gp due to my whole body being in pain, my face had swollen up and I had a sore throat. The gp said it was a virus. 10 days later I saw a different gp with the same symptoms, she told me there was nothing wrong with me but took my bloods to prove there was nothing wrong with me. The next morning I had a phone call telling me I had to get to A&E ASAP as something was wrong with my bloods. Once there I was put on oxygen and was told I'd had a major heart attack and was admitted to ccu. I was in hospital for 4 weeks where it was found I'd also had a stroke. I underwent various tests and then was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called idiopathic Hypereasinophilia. So my gps had missed a heart attack and a stroke. My blood disorder causes chronic muscle pain and the treatment for it causes bone pain but my gp refuses to give me a painkiller strong enough to deal with the level of pain I suffer every day as I'm only 42 and they don't want me to be addicted to medication. I also have mental health issues, 1 being agoraphobia and I need diazepam when I have medical appointments (it's the only time I leave my house) but the gp refuses to give me a dose stronger than 2mg, but I can take 4 of the 2mg as they say diazepam is addictive and again, they don't want me to be addicted to medication. Too many drs are ignorant, they go off what they have read in textbooks instead of actually listening to their patients. Unfortunately ignorant drs cost lives, and put a bigger burden on the NHS who are then left with the financial cost of treating the patient for the problem which wouldn't have been as bad if they had listened in the 1st place and caught it before it had chance to develop further. Why become a Dr if u don't want to help ppl and are just ignorant, labelling ppl as hypercondriacts, too young for a certain illness or u feel like they will become addicted to medications they need? Too many ppl suffer and loose their lives due to drs thinking they are above everyone and playing god!
Firstly so very sorry for the loss of your mother. I totally agree with you! And thank you on behalf of all the women you will be helping with this. I have been fighting with doctors for the last 10years over HPV and lymph’s. Thank you again for trying to be a voice for 1000s of women!
I lost my mum 6 weeks after she was diagnosed in late 2020. The blood test to screen for these cancers should be routine and at the bare minimum every 6 months.
