Many students and staff are suffering or have to worry about the fires, there house may have burn down or the houses of families. And is not that students don't want to go to school, maybe there are parents like mine that don't let there kids go to school because of the bad air, and those students are gone fall behind and have bad grades, all because they actually cared about there well being, and is unfare. Imagine not passing a class because you take care of yourself that's is ridiculous. We need to make any tipe of consideration, we don't know what students are going through. Now if you care for your students and staff you guys have to hear us and make a change.
Akemi speaking: I agree with all the statements. As the fire got worse, schools opened and none of us stayed inside even. These things are taken more seriously elsewhere it seems. We need someone who cares. I love what this is about and wish everyone the best of luck, let's get this so called superintendent out and take steps towards a better future for LAUSD and its people (students, teachers, etc).
I can see why phones aren't allowed in schools but phones should be allowed because anything bad can happen at school. If you don't have your phone on you during school and something bad happens (lockdown, school shooter, etc.) how are you going to contact your family member, police, or a hospital during that? think about it, is school more important than your own safety?
I am a student at Royal Oaks STEAM Academy and she was a very bad principal. She slapped a student. She also was responsible for the watermelon fried chicken incident where she gave out watermelon and fried chicken during black history month. Also when a student threatened to shoot up the school she did not alert parents and the kid punched staff, jumped fences, and police + helicopters were looking for the kid latter on when he posted online he would shoot the school with a picture of a gun everyone was in fear and the next day he still showed up to school with no consequences further more I am horrified to hear what happens to this school I sympathize :(.
I'm an old student from Royal Oaks STEAM Academy.
When I was there, she was very cold and unapproachable. She never took any of my issues seriously. I was dress coded multiple times for my shorts because they were "too short." I asked her to specify what "too short" meant, and she started screaming at me. Whenever she walked into a room, everyone got scared. With our new principal, I haven't been dress coded at all for these stupid rules. We had multiple instances of lock down, none of which our parents were notified about. We had one where the student allegedly was coming back to shoot up the school, which a lot of students heard him say, and Dr Tamanaha didn't do anything. I told her that I heard him say he was coming back with a gun after he hopped the fence, and she yelled at me to go back to class, and that it was "just rumors." He later allegedly posted himself with a gun saying "watch out royal oaks." She did nothing. Me and my best friend told our parents and got picked up, because we felt very unsafe under her care. She never sent anything out about the situation until THAT NIGHT. Everyone was freaking out and telling their parents, and many people got picked up. I would never trust her again. Another time, on the last day of school, there was a fight and someone got knocked out. We went on lockdown while I was out of class, but she didn't make an announcement. Instead, I had to get a text from my friend to learn that we were on a lockdown. I had to sprint to the nearest classroom and hope they let me in. She also didn't notify our parents about this instance. Many people I knew started bringing weapons to school to protect ourselves since our principal was so untrustworthy. There were also many instances of sexual assault that my friends went to her about, and she did absolutely nothing. If this was our middle school, I can't imagine how delicate an elementary school would be under her authority. School was absolutely so unsafe under her, so please, get her out of her position and away from all schools once and for all.
She ruined RO! Kids and parents alike were miserable. She was never around, and when she was she was unapproachable. She took away everything fun! We had an amazing PTO who was always so involved and she took away their participation, too! She came to 8th grade breakfast a week before graduation positive with COVID and didn't inform anyone until after the celebration was over. She was our principal during COVID and she completely disappeared and was nowhere to be found when she was needed! I am sorry for what you all are going through. She shouldn't be allowed to be a principal at any school!
