We, the undersigned students, alumni, and community members, are calling on Susquehanna University to move the upcoming Mike Pence event off campus.

This request is not about banning political speech. It is about protecting students in a living and learning environment. Hosting a high-profile national political figure on a small campus can bring increased security concerns, elevate tensions, and place additional risk and stress on marginalized students and the broader campus community.

Susquehanna University has stated that safety planning will include coordination with outside agencies and that additional screening MAY occur. However, students and alumni deserve clear, transparent safety planning and accountability, not general reassurance.

We are asking Susquehanna University to relocate this event to an off-campus venue to reduce risk and protect students, while maintaining public access for those who wish to attend.
