I attended for marketing and could never find a job. I feel like the joke was on us after they took our money knowing that no employer would hire a graduate from this school. I paid thousands to return to school for a different career choice.
I attended this school and seen alot of weird things. I was struggling with one class. I was told to submit a statement, to be reinstated. It was 3 time failing. I just needed one more chance. I divulged my whole story. I had ended up becoming homeless in the middle if my 1st year. I slept outside during one term and still made it to class for my final and passed with a A+. These people straight denied. Where I seen people who failed and kept getting chance after chance. There's a lot of passive racism in Washington. It's never direct. It shows up in specific space. Health care, Academia, and Employment all the time. You just never know when it's gonna show up. I hope this petition goes through. They were very misleading. Just like corinthian colleges. And need to be held accountable for such accordingly.
I attended IADT Chicago back in the early 2000s. I started shortly after they changed their name from The International Academy of Merchandising & Design (IAMD). That should have been red flag #1. At first, the school seemed ok. Yes, I had to take out loans. I also ended up with 3 private loans. My mom supposedly co-signed the biggest of these 3. This is not true. Long story short, I specifically told IADT that I did not have anyone to cosign a private loan. Somehow, my moms name was added to the loan and they denied doing it. They claimed I did it. Since the school is now closed, we haven't been able to do anything about it. I have been struggling to pay these private loans since. Like so many others, I was never able to get a job in my field like they promised. I never made the amount of money they said I would be after graduating. I now have a ridiculous amount of loans, both federal and private, that I am still trying to pay off over 20 years later.
I am a 66 year old woman with over $75K of student loan debt. Notified that my loan was back in repayment status even though I am confirmed to be on forbearance status until December 2025. I fail to understand how the Dept. Of Education can promise one thing, in writing, and then yank that out from under you with no explanation other than -TRUMP. This will be reported to my Senator.
