I was not informed that filshie clips were being used for my tubal ligation. I recently found out that both clips have migrated and has caused me great pain requiring surgery to be removed.
I was told they were safe and I had nothing to worry about. Now, I'm going through multiple medical appointments and hospitalizations because the clips migrated into my intestine. No one knows what to do about it or wants to deal with it. I could die from complications, your mothers and daughters could too.
I went through a horrific experience due to Filshie clips. I endured 8 months of pain, being told I had IBS or pcos and to take Ibuprofen for my excruciating pain. I was not told about any adverse effects. They need to stop using these devices. Filshie clips cause irreparable harm.
Mine migrated and this created a lot of pain and symptoms for five years. I had them removed. I was not told this was a possibility, or I wouldn’t have gone through with the procedure to begin with.
I wasn’t even informed filshie clips were going to be used. After 5 years of pain and a hysterectomy I’m finally pain free. Pain caused by filshie clips
I was sterilised at 27 without children. I am childfree by choice and I was fortunate enough to have been listened to, but hundreds, if not thousands, of women are not.
It's imperative that women are taken seriously when requesting sterilisation. Too often, women face barriers to the procedure, whether be due to gender, age, or childfree status. My PhD is on these issues faced by women in England in Wales and if you would like to hear about this further/ my project please email me @katesan2@liverpool.ac.uk
