Currently, the NHS guidelines for sterilisation is thirty, with children already. Yes it states on their website that "other options will be offered before giving this surgery" and its just guidelines. But seriously, how many of us women have gone to the doctor, asked for this and been handed birth control of some description instead? It is the best form of contraception other than abstinence out there. For those women that never want children, the goverment have a legal obligation to make it easier to live that way, our body our choice counts when it comes to abortions, but why does it not matter when it comes to stopping unwanted pregnancies in the first place unless we inject chemicals into our systems? Another advantage is not messing with your hormones As much as birth control. Pills, Injections and even the patch are all well known to prevent pregnancy, but also to fail to prevent pregnancy quite regularly, the same as condoms.

We are women. We should OWN what happens to our bodies. Not be forced into taking contraception that is known to fail, that is known to make us gain weight, when it might not even prevent an unwanted pregnancy anyway and leads to an extra cost on the nhs for those of us that do not want children in the form of an abortion, morning after pill etc. Signing this petition is getting women one step closer to owning what happens to our bodies. Goverment will say, "what if you want to have children in the future?" . I have a question back. What if we know for a fact we do not want children? What if we have reasons as to why? What if the nhs have to pay for a pregnancy a woman does not want but feels too guilty to abort? What if they end up giving the child up for adoption furtherly causing more costs to the goverment. Not to mention the high costs birth control has on the nhs. There will be a few women that want a reversal, but the mass majority of those that go for this procedure will not want it reversed, thus should be available and offered to all adult women that ask for sterilisation after a psychological assessment, Regardless of age, ethnicity or race.
