Make Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome a recognised medical condition #PTLS #NHS

The Issue

Every year hundreds of thousands of women are sterilised across the world. This is seen as a permanent procedure done by different methods including cutting or putting clips on a woman's fallopian tubes to prevent pregnancy. According to studies, 13% of women aged 13-44 have gone under tubal sterilization and up to 37% of these women consequently suffer from PTLS (post tubal ligation syndrome).

PTLS can cause symptoms such as ectopic pregnancy, severe headaches, mood swings, severe abdominal pain, uterine prolapse, depression and osteoporosis. PTLS is not a recognised medical condition in the UK by the NHS and this leaves thousands of women suffering with these problems with nowhere to turn.

So many women have stories about how they have been rejected from having their sterilisation reversed by the NHS and having to pay thousands of pounds to have it done privately. If PTLS were a recognised medical condition women could be warned of these symptoms before going through with the procedure or they could obtain a reversal without having to pay these huge amounts of money.

I myself suffer with PTLS, and have had to pay to book to have my reversal done privately. I dont want this to have to happen to other women as this problem has genuinely ruined my life. I would like our government to help me make this a recognised medical issue and change the life of thousands of women.
