For years I have enjoyed watching and being apart of oil country. I am a generational Edmonton oilers fan who has celebrated and cried with every win or loss. Despite this I will no longer be supporting the Edmonton Oilers in the upcoming season as I do not believe that the organization respects me and the rest of their female fans. I will continue to encourage everyone, Edmonton Oiler fans or not, to look at their values and morals consider whether the NHL is an organization that they want to continue to support. As long as Edmonton has Alex Formenton apart of the team I will not be supporting. I am only writing to bring recognition to me and thousands others who feel hurt and abandoned by the continued actions of these organizations. Lastly I want to acknowledge the larger picture. The comment “Rape allegations ruin lives” has been uttered to me from man after man for years. A reminder that they are more concerned about a women speaking out then they are about changing their behaviour. The NHL contracts of Carter Hart and Alex Formenton prove that this was never the case. It shows that no matter the actions of an individual they will be allowed to continue to play/work or to be a figure for young fans to look up to all because they know how to skate and shoot a puck. These systems and organizations will continue to protect them for as long as they can and I as a female hockey fan will not continue to let this be okay. These organizations need to do better and be better.

As a survivor of sexual assault, I feel completely alienated by the Oilers organisation today. Their privilege of not understanding how horrific it is to be a survivor of sexual assault is very obvious today. I cannot support an organisation headed by people who are so willfully and deplorably ignorant.

The Edmonton Oilers claim they investigated thoroughly with those “close to the matter” prior to making this decision. Which experts or groups on violence against women did you consult with? Which victims of sexual assault were consulted?<br>

As an Edmonton Oilers fan, I am now ashamed of my team and of the jerseys and Oilers merch that I own.<br>

Please, reconsider this signing. Reconsider the message it sends to both survivors but also all fans - especially young men and women. Violence against women is never okay, and playing in the NHL is a privilege. Send the message that actions have consequences.

Also Argentina fouled against Salah as they were prepping for their goal just like Egypt did but when they scored the ref didn’t even do a VAR check. This game was so biased and no matter what team people are rooting for everyone sees the obvious double standard fifa has towards African teams. FIFA needs to stop and realize that if they are going to keep doing this (they will) they should just stop doing the world cup as a whole.
