Secession of Deaf Ice Hockey from the Canadian Deaf Sports Association

The Issue

The deaf national ice hockey team wishes to secede from the present Canadian Deaf Sports Association (CDSA). The reason why the ice hockey wishes to be independent is because the CDSA has not sponsored national championships, world championships, national try-outs, national hockey clinics, national hockey training camps, regional tournaments like East-West competitions, and invitational camps since 2017 as the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) took over. The last time was the CDSA sponsored ice hockey the Winter Deaflympics in Italy in 2019, so it was its last support. The Canadian Deaf Ice Hockey Federation (CDIHF) requested to affiliate to the CDSA, but its re-admission was rejected three years ago. Unquestionably, the CDSA does not want ice hockey operations, Canada's most popular sports in the view of the world.
