Trump and his cabinet have always pretended to care about how the US stays competitive in the global market. If we undercut science like this, we can say goodbye to the last shred of competition we have. Instead, we will become the laughing stock of the true leaders in global industry. Science is vital to moving forward and staying ahead of the curve, bringing economic growth and prosperity to nations that develop new innovative technologies. We are going to be decades behind if these cuts continue. NASA and its science offices provide incredible benefits to our once great nation. Do not cut these programs. You are literally shooting yourselves in the foot.
The congressional act that created NASA in 1958 specifically requires the space agency to expand human knowledge about Earth's atmosphere and space. NASA's Earth observation satellites have substantially increased our understanding of our planet's weather, climate, and land use. These cuts will mean that the US will no longer be the world leader in space and earth science. Whether you believe in climate change or not, we still need to study our climate because it impacts everything we do from farming, transportation, business and disaster preparation. Our NASA satellites are instrumental in gathering that information.
Croydon Council have already betrayed the legacy of Heathfield House by selling off part of it’s ceramic collection left to the people of the Borough so the plan to sell this unique heritage site doesn’t come as a surprise. The site has such potential as a visitor attraction or event space akin to the likes of Morden Hall. If the council can’t afford to maintain the site it should be entrusted to another heritage organisation who can bring it back to former glory and maintain access for the public. It’s clear the council simply want the responsibility off of their hands.
I have been on many trips here with schools, my family and children and all have loved and enjoyed the quiet space and beautiful views . Please DO NOT take away this space to sell for housing . It is a historic site and part of croydons history -it was given as a space to be shared with the community -PLEASE let it remain as this
I fell in love with Heathfield as a n ex-resident of Croydon and have been volunteering in the orchard for many years. This Heritage site is not to be sold to account for a mere handful of units! What would the meaning Heritage be if this beautiful house was to be sold to potential reckless developers? The work and the philosophy of Mr Riesco, the meaning of this gift to LB of Croydon as well as the legality behind it, the impact on the community and the Ecology centre/orchard is being utterly ignored and abused! This sale must not take place at all cost for the sake of the community and the Riesco family.
