Bunts Rd. is already a very busy street, as well as an emergency route for emergency vehicles. Getting out of the driveway already takes longer than it needs to from time to time, and adding this shared use path will only make an already busy road, busier. This shared use path will also mean the potential for collisions between pedestrians and those on motorized scooters, bikes, etc. And lastly, the city has stated that they will be removing all the trees from the entire length of Bunts--that accounts for the removal of over 210 well-established trees. That in itself is absurd, and even though the city has promised to plant new trees, it will be years before the young newly planted trees reach the size of many of the trees already on Bunts. This plan for the shared use path needs to be shelved.

Myself, my kids and many others bike throughout Lakewood. Bike lanes are important but so are reliable safeguards; too many drivers who just don't pay attention. We've had too many close calls. Until better protections are in place for existing lanes, the Bunts project needs to be shelved.

We just bought our home on Bunts in 2024. Although we love this street, pulling out of our driveway everyday can be a struggle. I truly can’t imagine more traffic that could risk the safety of the driver and pedestrians biking, skateboarding, and walking on the new path. Not the mention our beautiful tree that we love on our tree lawn. I love the idea of a new path but not on this already very busy street.

It is already difficult enough to back out of our driveways. I am a trauma ICU nurse and I do not want to see and increase in potential injuries.

We’ve lived on Bunts for over ten years. The number of accidents, cars running into parked cars is crazy. We have had two cars totaled parking bunts. I can’t imagine how it’ll be without the tree lawn! There is no evidence of traffic or pedestrian studies that warrant this major change.

This plan is inappropriate and dangerous, considering the current volume of traffic between I-90 and Madison. I need to watch out for my own life when using my driveway, and don't need an extra lane of unpredictable traffic across my property.

I am a regular cyclist and walker in Lakewood. A large part of that is the forested nature of the city with its multitude of large, beautiful trees. Though a smooth pedestrian/bike path would be appreciated, it is irresponsible to take away Lakewood’s trees in the process. City council should find a way to create such a path without deforesting our streets.

Bunts is one of the busiest roads in Lakewood and people drive down it like it's a freeway. I rented on Bunts for four years and bought a house on Bunts to move into after the rental. I've experienced Bunts Road traffic and community for the last twelve years. In those twelve years, I've heard *SEVERAL* car accidents (at least 1-2 a year) and witnessed two from the view on my balcony - cars rushing to back out of driveways in between traffic. It's a dangerous street as it is and increasing foot and bike traffic will make it more dangerous. Lakewood prides itself on being a walkable city. But this project will do the opposite. Bikers and walkers will realize the dangers of this on Bunts and use it less. The tree lawns will lose their charm (and safety from those accidents I mentioned above). While an new path that transverses south and north can add charm to the city, doing it on Bunts will have the opposite effect. A new path should be evaluated for a less busy road and one that doesn't risk the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and bikers based on how busy the road is.

I grew up on Bunts Rd. The street from its creation has always been one of the busiest N/S streets in Lakewood. It's dangerous enough try to back out of a driveway with the traffic.. I can't imagine a bike path thrown into the mix. The hazard to pedestrians is real too. This is the main thoroughfare for high school students... Lastly, look at the quiet streets parallel to Bunts that see ten percent of the activity; Parkwood, Robinwood, Elmer... A multi use path there makes much more sense.

There are so many young families on Bunts Road, bringing traffic closer to people's houses is not safe, the tree lawns are a safety buffer that many people rely on considering that front yards are already small on this street. When you pair this with the fact that this road is one of the main paths of travel to the highway (where bikes and scooters aren't allowed) and one of the major routes for emergency vehicles this road is already busy. It would be irresponsible to make it busier. Bike lanes and shared use lanes are important, but there are better streets to put them on than an already over-used street b
