Dear Concerned Residents,

We continue the fight to cancel or change the addition of a 10-foot-wide, shared-use path on Bunts Road, as very few people are in favor of it. Please help us continue the fight by contacting your local, state, and federal representatives. Below is some language you may use to guide your own outreach. Thank you for your support!

Subject: Wasteful Spending in Lakewood, Ohio

I am among more than 1,300 people who have signed a digital and paper petition to stop or change the addition of a 10-foot-wide, shared-use path on Bunts Road in Lakewood, Ohio. We oppose for five main reasons:

·      It is unsafe.

·      It will negatively impact the local environment on Bunts and beyond.

·      The path will cost Lakewood residents millions to build (at a time when we have many actual needs, including infrastructure that impacts all).

·      There is no plan to maintain the path once it is built.

·      It creates a precedent for city employees to make harmful changes to Lakewood’s city streets without proper resident input, research, and demonstrated need.

Citizens have provided extensive research from credible sources demonstrating the above to no avail. While city officials have claimed it is too late to make changes, they have changed the plan when they wanted to. Example: Residents of Edgewater Drive in Lakewood complained once about a shared-use path planned for their street and changes were made immediately.

As many have stated multiple times, no one objects to the other changes planned for Bunts Road – only the shared-used path on an already-busy street.

We urge you to intervene in this dangerous plan before it is too late. Please help Lakewood residents be good stewards of taxpayer funds.
