Hopefully this petition grt through to our local state member tim Richardson and finally get this done.
I live around this area, my child goes to keysborough garden primary, time and time again ive seen near misses due to car speeding on chapel Rd, have the police been informed so we can curb this behaviour.
Is it going to take a death for this too be implemented. We need action now.
I always cross this road to get to Woolies or even to Pencil Park while my son is on a pram. It is so difficult to cross unless there is literally no cars. Vehicles will not slow down (which is right for them to do) for pedestrians and the sidewalk from the other side where the chapel is has a huge gap.
These endless horror deaths of our wildlife on our roads are so emotionally traumatizing. Something has to be done to reduce or stop the road kill. There are ways to minimize these deaths. Please act now,
As a local wildlife carer I witness first hand the carnage caused on Wellington road..it is wildlife carers that are left to care for raise, rehabilitate and release the orphaned babies left behind when their mothers are killed..thankyou to all the wonderful wildlife rescuers like Lea out there 💜
I am a local Wildlife Rescuer and recently attended a pouch check on Wellington Road. Thankfully, it was a male kangaroo but both legs had been completely broken. It’s head was crushed and its tail had been degloved during the presumably heavy vehicle strike. I had to try and move this poor kangaroo further to the side of the road on a busy Saturday. There needs to be more done to alert motorists and protect the wildlife along this extremely busy road.
It is not just Wellington Road, the carnage of our native wildlife is happening throughout the country. We humans have to put aside our own selfish interests (it'll cost $s, it means driving slower for brief periods) and take proven action to reduce the terrible suffering and decimation of these animals. I have driven Wellington Road for decades, and with its increased traffic and the area's urbanisation has been a huge visible increase in the destruction of wildlife. The animals suffer horrible painful deaths. It is callous of us to allow it continue while we have the means and knowledge to act. It is do-able.
