There is no benefits to terminating Telework agreements only detrimental to the staff now having to re-arrange work sites, spend more money on gas communiting to work, and cause more stress towards the work enviroment.
Remote work creates a sustainable future reducing carbon emissions from unnecessary buildings and long commutes. Remote work has been supported since the 1990's. I don't want my federal workers all centered in Washington DC. I want them in my neighborhood, available for their children, serving me and our communities, not politicians.
As a stay at home mom of 3 children I cannot imagine how I would maneuver their schedules if I worked in office. Much less with a disabled spouse/family member that needs my support throughout the day. Some families do not have the option of hiring a caregiver due to funds as well as the disability of said spouse/family member it can definitely be and uncomfortable experience for both the worker and the people at home with such a big change. Leaving them home with a stranger while you go back to the office not knowing how they will be handled or treated, and leaving them in an uncomfortable space with somebody they are unfamiliar with so suddenly is not ideal. As someone who already struggles with this economy I would not be able to return to office which would cost my my job and my childrens lively hood, I would have to seek out a lower paying job and struggle more just to stay home to be here to get them off the bus and manage everything else they have going on. This could damage many people’s income and their daily routines with a dependent who relies on them for most things throughout the day as well as disrupt familiarity in routine with the dependent which could lead to future complications down the line.
The added time away has had immediate impacts on my 100% disabled SC spouse, our family, and my own well being. I will not be able to continue with school part time. Eating well and exercise have been replaced by long daily commutes. Expensive prepared meals have replaced fresh nutritious ingredients. The return to office had hugely negatively impacted our lives and well being. I am sure it has for other 100% SC disable veterans, their caregivers and their families.
Having the flexibility to work from home decreases lost time due to bad weather and sickness, plus it helps those with caregiver roles manage their schedules better. It's a matter of safety, health, and work-life balance. We have all of this connectivity in place, let's keep using to the benefit all State employees!
Being able to work remotely is a big part of why I’m able to live in Indiana and spend money at Indiana businesses. In 2025 there is no need to mandate in-office work for positions that do not require it; this policy hurts Indiana’s ability to innovate and attract talent that would prefer to work from home.
State employees were offered remote work as an incentive to keep staff while not raising salaries. Now state employees don’t get raises while they’re losing benefits.
My mom has severe driving anxiety from almost dying on the way home from work 30 years ago and losing my sister 5 years ago to a drunk driver. She hardly leaves the house as is and working from home allows her to connect with people so she still has human interaction. she needs remote work
My wife is leaving the DOC due to the lack of investment and impact removing remote work days has on us financially. Unfortunately, she loved her job and work there. It's a shame and I expect they will lose many more great, well trained, educated, assets within the DOC due to the actions of Mike Braun and the administration. Training, onboarding and getting up to speed new employees to replace those employees who have the talent and skills to take elsewhere will likely outway and shortlisted cuts. Lastly, the lack of communication or impact analysis from this administration shows just how little they respect and understand the important work done by the DOC.
Requiring state workers to work in the office removes the opportunity for rural Hoosiers to serve at the state level and ensures that state jobs will continue to be held by those who live in the Metropolitan areas. Please reverse the remote work policy to allow opportunities for all hoosiers to be public servants.
