My husband age 62 and daughter. Never been in trouble. Clean records. Protected the family against known gang members. These people came to hurt or possible kill us. Messages on phone. Well after the smoke cleared... we were charged. Attempted murder. Lawyer said on record. "In my 44yrs I've never seen the jury get it so wrong". Now my husband and daughter have basically got life sentencing. I've been married to this man 39 yrs. I will probably never sleep beside him again. I will probably never sit and watch a movie with my daughter again. This is unfair type of punishment. Ever case is different. Baby killers don't get the time Attempted murder gets.
My great grandson got murdered at 4 months. Keyontay webster was his name. His murderer will probably be released before my family. Robert Lyons and Rebecca Lyons. How is this a fair judicial system. No more mandatory.
I was abused as a child by a man that my mother kept around. I also had to watch my mother get abused in front of me. This went on for many many years. This man does not deserve the years he has gotten
I signed Jason's petition to be set free because I personally know that child predators changes a victim for the rest of their life I think the best example is Jason himself. Yet the law seems to make light of their the victims life sentence giving the predators 6 months for trying assualt their step daughter who was only a kindergarten . Jason a fellow victim took into his own hands. It wasn't right but i believe he wasn't in his right mind in the moments of the crime cptsd which is common for victims of child abuse can show psychotic symptoms . The system has ignored the victim again and stood with our abusers yet again.
The State of Alaska should be absolutely ashamed. This is a good man who cares about his community. These monsters prove time and time again they are not reformable yet the government thinks so little of children they keep letting them free to reoffend. This amazing man should have never been put in a position to have to protect his community because the state of Alaska should have never let these creatures see the light of day. The State of Alaska should care more about the children in their state than this. Jason should have never been in a position to protect his community if the State of Alaska and so many others actually did their job and carried out real justice. These monsters are treated better than their victims by the courts and I'm so sick of seeing it. I lived it and my worthless state didn't help me either. Do better. Be like Florida. Death penalty for anyone offending children under 13 proven beyond a reasonable doubt and our children can once again be safe. Sad when the monsters are protected more than the children!!! Jason has suffered enough because of your failures Alaska. Do better. Let this man go home he's no threat!!!
I have not been able to speak to my son in three and a half months I have not heard his voice not to mention he is 6 hours from me as I am getting older this is more important as my health is declining slowly and I totally understand that he is in there for doing something wrong at the same time due to the way of life in prison sometimes being on lockdown with no communication to the outside world happens and unfortunately for some families this creates multiple Mental Health issues for both the inmate and the parent or family member not only have I not spoken to him in over 3 and 1/2 months but when he does get out and has to go back in for whatever reason they take the letters that were written and not sent and they don't give them back meaning that's one less piece of communication that I have it is now Christmas time and tomorrow my son will not be able to call me because he's on loss of privileges so that doesn't only affect him that affects his son me his mom and the rest of the family who loves and cares for him I believe it and make sure to have at least one phone call per day free of charge no matter the circumstance because that is there Lifeline to the outside world and sometimes all it takes is that one phone call to get them out of their own head especially after being in an isolation situation and the burden should always fall on the Family who has done nothing wrong and nothing to deserve it it does affect their mental health as well and that should be important as well
