My little sister Carolyn died of an "accidental Overdose" from a pressed pill that contained fentanyl. She was 39 yrs old leaving behind an 11yr old daughter. My sister hated hard drugs, although she suffered from extreme anxiety and depression. Her Drs,counselors, and psychiatrist failed her at every turn. She struggled daily with intrusive thoughts, manic episodes, and all she wanted was to feel normal again.Yes,she would numb herself with alcohol and anxiety pills some days. But her main goal was to be the best Mom for her daughter.Thr Mom she didn't have as we lost ours when Carolyn was 11.Our Mom was 42 when she died of a brain aneurysm on our kitchen floor.Whem Carolyn wasn't struggling, she was so funny, outgoing, fashionable, kind-hearted,and loved her family. On July 26th,2021 she went by a friend's house, after he begged her to stop by because she's been avoiding him for 2 weeks. She has been dating someone and was happy, but she didn't like to blow off her friends. She said goodbye to our Dad,taking a selfie with him,and off she went about 3 streets up.A couple hours later, there was a knock on our Dad's door, stating his little girl was dead. She was found in bed, with her head on her friend's shoulder, blood coming from her nose.Suppoaedly,he had woken up finding her this way.The EMT's worked on her but quickly pronounced her deceased. There was no investigation as this is a frequent occurrence in Dorchester,MA.But some things did not sit right with me.They both took the same pill,he was perfectly
I have never met anyone opposed to a Moment of Silence—because who can deny the power of reflection, stillness, and clarity? In that quiet pause, humility awakens, purpose ignites, and a nation finds balance. This is not controversial—it’s common sense. A simple moment that shapes a lifetime.
Why This Petition Matters to Me
My name is Erik Hesson, and I’m a business owner and artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida. I started this petition because I’m experiencing firsthand how damaging these steep new tariffs are to small businesses like mine—and I know I’m not alone.
These tariffs aren’t just numbers on paper—they’re real price hikes on raw materials and finished products that American businesses depend on every day. Whether you're a manufacturer, retailer, or independent creator like me, if you source anything from outside the United States, you're now paying significantly more—sometimes over 50% more.
This isn’t just a business problem. These increased costs are inevitably passed along to American consumers, raising prices across the board. It’s a domino effect that affects everyone—families, workers, and communities.
We all want to see America grow and thrive, but punishing American businesses and increasing the cost of living for everyday Americans is not the way to do it. This issue touches all of us, and that’s why I’m speaking out. We need a smarter, fairer approach to trade—one that actually helps the American people.
Small business owner here who imports from Africa, who has been hit with these tariffs. This will directly impact my business, the price of my product and quite frankly is not sustainable for me to remain in business. These tariffs are going to single handedly destroy small business in America, hands down.
I’m looking to branch out with my small art business and I can’t do that with tariffs impacting my products! I want to contribute and be a part of a community but it gets harder with unnecessary and petty tariffs.
Because it passes the price onto consumers. I work for a small business. We can’t afford to pay that much more for already pricey products. And so we’d have to raise our prices….and people already have a hard time affording our pet stylist prices….so they will either stop coming or go longer between groomings.
If these continue which I think they will it will be the end of small business. Even the corporations to offset the costs will lay hundreds to thousands of people off creating massive unemployment on top of people losing their businesses and more jobs loss. The rhetoric from the administration proves they either don’t care or are so out of touch and punishing us for what China does. We did nothing wrong and my companies steel products will NEVER be made here again. Protect US Steel. Great but it doesn’t mean we will get our type of product made here and we don’t have time to source via another country because we wouldn’t make it in time because our product will be gone and no more revenue in a matter of a couple months from now. I can’t sleep at night knowing my years of hard work will be for nothing due to something I had no control over and it’s totally unfair to so many people and I find it unbelievable this administration seems so oblivious to it.
Tariffs will lead to significant damage to companies, foreign and US. People will suffer greatly couldn't afford anything they want, need, etc.. If said it would drop for China, I would rather not take a chance. I feared it could take longer. Mentioning Christmas, parents and families could suffer and no children should ever have their Christmas ruined by tariffs. Neither should everyone else. Tariffs on anything could lead to lower production and economic disaster. The tariffs should and has to be stopped
As a single mom who purchases items for a fraction of the price elsewhere, the import fees that have been added will impact me significantly. Please reduce the tariffs that are being passed along to consumers. The upper class doesn’t rely on cheap foreign goods because they can afford the markups imposed by businesses in the USA.
