I have Families that live in these communities. They have been displaced since the hurricanes because of flooding, the flooding was caused by incompetence by the City. This must not happen again!

Something needs to be done so this doesn't happen again this hurricane season or future hurricane seasons. My niece's house backs up to Lake Bonny and the water has continued to go up this year. The level is almost as high as it was last last summer.

They had to get an apartment with 7 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. A few weeks ago they were given an estimate of six months before they could potentially be able to get back into their house. I was fortunate that I did not flood on the other side of Polk but I live in a one bedroom trailer in a 55+ community.

This can’t happen again in the future. Memories that I can never recover and special items like things from my grandmother are gone forever.
L supported: Petition for an Independent Investigation into the Lake Bonny Flooding and Related MattersI contacted the City of Lakeland through their website a couple of days after the hurricane to see if I could get more sandbags since I knew the city was operating several sandbag stations before the storm. The sandbags were critical for me to mitigate further damage by damming my house and pumping the water out faster than it was coming in. The city's response was "The county operated the sandbag locations and they are no longer available." Not only did they falsely claim they were not operating sandbag stations before the storm, they essentially said I was on my own.
I then reached out to Bill Mutz to ask for help on his latest Facebook post since I noticed he was replying to people there. He gave me no response to my comment or messages. Instead I had to go from friend to friend and even my work to collect sandbags. I worked every single night after work walking through infested swamp water trying to save my house. I would have had thousands of more dollars in damages if it wasn't for the sandbags. A simple, but essential, resource that the city failed to provide in our time of need.
Josef supported: Petition for an Independent Investigation into the Lake Bonny Flooding and Related MattersWe are farmland we are a small town with ranchers and farmers and Growers of all kinds Generations you don't just get rid of that you build on it like the foundation that you're supposed to build your town on and instead you try to build the infrastructure first that's not the way to build I thought somebody around here had an engineering degree. The destruction of our wildlife and then beautiful creation and nature that God gave us it's nothing for somebody just to wipe out a whole field of trees when there's nothing wrong with them. Simply because they want the land and they have the money to buy it it's absolutely sickening we are a small town not a Concrete Jungle or a tourist attraction you're welcome to come and stay and enjoy what we have just keep it that way leave it better than how you found it!

You’ve destroyed our beautiful little town and are pushing out natures animals to getting hit by cars in the streets. Where are people going to work here? There is no industry here and there definitely aren’t enough schools. The traffic is horrendous 😡, all because of greed to make a buck! We the residents of these towns have had enough, this over building needs to stop!
