The injustice against Senator Natasha is unacceptable and must be condemned in every sense. As an advocate for women and girls, I stand firmly with all those fighting against injustice in Nigeria. The suspension of Senator Natasha is an affront to democracy and women’s representation, and I strongly oppose it.
I call on the Nigerian government and the international community to urgently intervene and ensure that Senator Natasha receives the justice she deserves. Women will no longer be silenced. We must speak out, stand together, and demand accountability. If we allow this injustice to go unchallenged, we fail not just Senator Natasha, but every woman striving for a just and equitable society. Enough is enough!
Justice must be served for her! These behaviors can no longer be swept under the rug or women shunned for coming forth against their aggressors. This is why so many women are afraid to talk .
We must seek justice for her! We cannot ignore these behaviors any longer or allow women to be silenced for speaking out against their aggressors. We must create an environment where every voice feels empowered to be heard. Justice for Senator Natasha!
This is not just about Natasha. It's about what she represents. If a senator is thus treated on the issue of sexual gender based violence, what becomes of a faceless/voiceless girl child.
We can't fold our hands when sextortion and sexual violence is institutionalized.
Women should be heard not shamed. All the people asking Mrs Natasha to show evidence should please explain to us how you get evidence from a crime of opportunity? She didn't go there hoping to be sexually abused.
1. Reinstate Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to her position to allow her to perform her legislative duties without prejudice.
2. Initiate an independent investigation into the allegations to ensure transparency and uphold the integrity of the Senate.
3. Implement protective measures for individuals who bring forth allegations, ensuring they are heard without fear of retribution.
There is a broader issue of gender inequality in Nigeria, particularly in politics, where women often face systemic barriers, discrimination, and unfair treatment. Women like Natasha Akpoti have encountered significant challenges, including political opposition, and gender-based bias, which highlight the ongoing struggles women face in Africa. #istandwithnatasha
