Ban Awami League & its 14-party alliance from elections for 15 years
The Issue
Who is Affected?
For 15 years, Bangladesh suffered under Awami League’s illegal rule. They rigged three consecutive elections, silenced opposition voices through forced disappearances and killings, and massacred students during the July Revolution. They looted billions from the economy, pushed the country into debt with unnecessary megaprojects, and signed one-sided treaties that made Bangladesh economically dependent on India. Now, even after losing power, the current government and the largest opposition party are attempting to bring Awami League back into the political system—not to serve the people, but to secure their vote bank by forming an alliance in exchange for forgiveness. If this happens, justice will be denied, and those responsible for destroying our democracy will escape accountability.
What is at Stake?
Allowing Awami League to return to elections means legitimizing their past crimes. It means rewarding election rigging, mass killings, corruption, and betrayal of national interests. The same leaders who looted the nation and handed over its sovereignty will once again gain influence, making true democracy impossible. Instead of punishing them, the political elite are working behind closed doors to rehabilitate them for their own benefit.
If we do not act now, Bangladesh will remain trapped in a cycle of corruption and injustice, where criminals rule and patriots suffer. On the other hand, banning Awami League and its allies—including Jatiyo Party—from elections for 15 years will set a historic precedent: no party that destroys democracy will ever return to power.
Why is Now the Time to Act?
This is Bangladesh's chance to break free from the cycle of corruption and dictatorship. If we allow Awami League to re-enter politics, we are accepting their crimes and ensuring that history repeats itself. Bangladesh deserves a fresh start—a future where democracy is real and leaders are accountable. We must act now to ban Awami League and its allies, not just to punish them, but to protect the lives of innocent Bangladeshis.
