Growing up as a Canadian, I was proud of our country's principles of democracy and right to free speech. I remember when I read Animal Farm for the first time in Grade 6, I was shocked to read of a government built with the interest of its people in mind, but ended up becoming as corrupt as the government they replaced. Part of the reason for this shock was because I believed that it couldn't happen here. However, when I heard the news that Michael Ma crossed over to the Liberal Party, I realized this reality was indeed possible. Many members in our community, including myself, have not been involved in politics until this election. Our community wanted to give our support to the Conservative Party because we believe the Conservative Party's ideas represented our interests the best. By crossing to the Liberal Party, not only is this a violation of our trust, but it also brings us a sadness and anger that our vote has no meaning. I am signing this petition because I am still hopeful that we can get back the power of the people. I don't want to be disappointed anymore every time I hear news about Canadian politics. I want to be a proud Canadian.

By crossing the floor, he has effectively abandoned the mandate given to him by voters. Switching parties means he no longer represents the views of those who elected him, and therefore lacks a legitimate mandate to continue as an elected official.
As a voter in the Markham–Unionville riding who cast my vote for Michael Ma, I was not made aware of any notice, consultation, or intention to change party affiliation. This decision was made without the consent of his constituents. He should resign and allow the citizens of his riding to choose a new Member of Parliament.

I have lived in Markham for 34 years, and like thousands of residents, l never had heard about your name before the 2025 Federal Election. I voted for you only because you represented the Conservative Party. Your decision to abandon the Party and join the Liberal Party, the very voters who elected you is nothing short of an unforgivable betrayal! Our community is furious. We feel blatantly deceived, manipulated, and stripped of our democratic voice.
Your actions have destroyed every ounce of trust we placed in you. I strongly demand that you resign immediately and allow a by-election so this riding can choose someone who genuinely represents us and who we can trust!

A 65-year-old senator marrying a 20-year-old young woman already reflects a deep imbalance of power, but threatening and imprisoning her loved ones to force her back into a marriage she no longer consents to is nothing short of emotional and political manipulation. No one—regardless of their position or influence—should use authority to intimidate, control, or punish others for exercising their freedom. Such behavior is a disgrace to leadership and a violation of the very justice he swore to uphold. He must be held accountable so that no one else ever suffers from this kind of abuse.
