Whatever party you support, if big billionaires can make unlimited donations, it means their voices are heard far louder than ours — whether it’s on the NHS, the cost of living, or our own security. Reform’s recent mega-donor, Christopher Harborne, has a ‘military empire’ — with financial interests in jet fuel and weapons. If his money influences our next election, whose interests will politicians be acting in? 

This kind of future scares me. And it’s not just a Reform issue. Ahead of the General Election in 2024, Labour accepted a £4 million donation from a hedge fund with shares in oil and arms, registered in the Cayman Islands. Meanwhile, one of the Conservative Party’s largest donors is a healthcare technology company who have received £591 million in NHS contracts since 2016 — when the Tories were in power. The CEO has amassed a personal fortune of £415 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List in 2024.

Whilst we’re worrying about energy bills or healthcare, these people are piling up the profit — and buying access to our politicians to do it. 

We have a huge opportunity to stop this. On Monday, parliament will debate a law that could limit political donations. We want to make a huge media splash with this petition, to put pressure on MPs, the Lords, and the Prime Minister to act. It’ll be so powerful if we can hit 100,000 signatures.
