Our health insurance was offered to us after a bad faith negotiation. Nurses were not informed that the plan did not meet MCC until it was too late. MGB has done a despicable thing and needs to take corrective action immediately. This is an unethical and amoral thing to do to employees and their families.

Studies have already shown that by incorporating nap times for overnight workers it will improve their decision making and care for patients. I think it’s also safe to say it could have prevented this tragedy as well. The healthcare system needs to starts protecting their nurses and normalizing sleep breaks if they want to prevent this in the future. Cases like this make people second guess wanting to become a nurse, let alone a night shift nurse (which there is always a shortage of already.) If you want better staffing you need to support ,and take better care of, the ones you already have.

I am an RN working in the Metro Atlanta area for over 30 years. I was shocked at the sentence that is allowed for this incident. She is paying for this every day of her life no matter what. Please excuse this accident taking into consideration all the facts around it. She as all nurses need respect for all they do. I have discovered that when someone needs a nurse, nurses are priceless. When someone does not need a nurse at the time, they are disregarded.

It all begins with the working conditions of our healthcare workers. Why do hospitals here start most new grads out on night shift? I’ve been a nurse 20+yrs and experienced hallucinations from sleep deprivation when I was on nights. 12 hour night shifts need mandatory rest periods!

It is absolute crap and horrible that there is no consideration for special circumstances or miscommunication on their part. My husband was killed in a helicopter crash and of course my CQR became due shortly after. I ended up being a few days late getting my CE prescription and reached out to them about what to do. I was told my credentials were discontinued but as long as I complete the CE prescription and pay by the following year I’d be good to go. So I did just that and it was then that I found out they had secretly put me on probation for not putting my CEs in and I apparently only had 6 months after my CQR lapsed to do so or I’d have to reinstate by exam. No call. No email. No mailed letter. No mention about this from the person I reached out to on day one. Nothing. Now I’m out more money and having to pay for, study for, and retake an exam on stuff I haven’t even thought about for over 10 years (I work in ultrasound). This CQR crap does nothing but create confusion and problems that would have never happened otherwise.

I have been strictly a CT tech for the last 8 years. Last year I came up in 10years of being a Radiology Tech, so of course I had to complete my CQR! I honestly had no idea there was a 2 month wait to take the test as well as I wld have to travel 30min to sit in person! I was worried I would t have enough time to complete the test and then complete any CQR points I needed! I opted out of the test and had to complete all the points in the different categories! I already paid for my ASRT membership, but ASRT does not provide you with enough CQR credits to compete them all! I needed 1.5 points in imaging production and a few in another category! I had to purchase another membership on another website for $50 in order to get all the points! I spend over $200 in total and countless hours reading and answering questions! It was the biggest pain in the ass and outright ridiculous that we have to do so much to prove competent in a modality most of us don’t even work in! We pay for our school, to take boards, our licenses, and our own CEs and membership fees! Why do we need to remember what the array processor does?

The CQR has NOTHING to do with quality of work. They do not allow cath lab employees to take an assessment specific to our modality unless we have jumped through the ARRT hoops to buy the CI/VI certification. Most cath lab techs have never worked in general radiology and most do not hold the ARRT specific VI/CI. This assessment has absolutely nothing to do with our daily work, it is not required for all licensees but only those licensed after 2011, and they act as though it is *simply* a free assessment when it requires a proctored test and I for one know that my time is valuable making this hassle anything but free. However, they will allow you to accept the maximum CEU requirement in lieu of taking the proctored exam which is what I did. But again, the whole concept is ridiculous and unnecessary.

This entire procedure is an inefficient use of both time and financial resources. The nearest testing center is located two hours from my home, which incurs significant travel expenses and takes valuable time away from my children. Additionally, I am required to pay for extra continuing education courses beyond what I am already completing to demonstrate my expertise and commitment to ongoing learning. This situation is exasperating and appears to be disproportionately focused on imaging, which lacks logical justification.

The ARRT does not support any Radiologic Technologists and their specified modalities. What do I get from them other than initials behind my name? I don't get discounts on CEU's AND they're raising the price of the license. The CQR is just another money grab. I thought the point of completing CEU's was to help us stay up to date. Adding this test will in no way benefit us. I've been out of school less than 10 years, why on earth do I need a "refresher"!? Whoever's idea this was is an idiot and clearly doesn't know what's actually important. A test does not determine how good of a tech you are (no matter your modality).
